COVID-19 pandemic

Measures and actions related to the pandemic

The OMHM has had to make numerous adjustments to its activities in order to continue to provide essential services and to meet the demands of the pandemic. The OMHM has also stepped up its discussions with the Montreal Regional Public Health Department to ensure that best practices are in place, both for its tenants and for its employees.

Guidelines to follow

  • It is important to wash your hands regularly with soap and water, or by disinfecting them with an alcohol-based solution (gel).
  • Keep your distance. Keep a distance of at least 1 meter as much as possible from other people who do not live under your roof. If this is not possible, wear a mask or face covering.
  • Avoid contact, especially if you are ill.
  • Avoid direct contact for greetings, such as handshakes, and favor the use of alternative practices.
  • Maximum of two people in the elevators.

Rent payment

In this difficult period linked to COVID-19, we want to provide support to our low-cost housing tenants who are experiencing payment difficulties, in order to prevent them from accumulating rent arrears when things return to normal.

That's why we offer you a variety of ways to pay your rent.

Direct debits: A quick and easy way to pay rent

The direct debit program allows us, with the tenant's permission, to have the amount due from the tenant's bank account. A simple and effective way to have peace of mind.

To take advantage of the program, all you need to do is:

  • Complete and sign the authorization form.
  • Attach to the form an unsigned check, bearing the words "canceled", on which you write your tenant file number on the back.
  • Return it to the Office municipal d'habitation de Montréal.

Want to cancel? No problem! You or the Montreal Municipal Housing Office can terminate the agreement at any time by written or verbal notice.
