Housing Search Assistance Service

Supporting households without housing in Montréal

The Housing Search Assistance Service helps Montréal households in vulnerable situations and with modest incomes find housing in Montréal, where they can settle for a long time.

The Service intervenes in the following situations:

  • a disaster or emergency evacuation, after being taken under the wing of the Red Cross;
  • repossession;
  • eviction for renovation;
  • non-renewal of a lease; or
  • eviction further to a decision rendered by the Tribunal administratif du logement.

Types of help available:

The Service directs you to:

  • accommodation and social, community and private housing resources;
  • social services;
  • community organizations based on individual needs; and
  • a housing search tool by size and price.

Eligibility requirements:

  • resided on Island of Montreal over the past year (proof of residence or lease);
  • about to lose your home (within 3 months);
  • started looking for housing on your own and haven’t found anything; and
  • modest household income.

The Service does not keep a bank of available housing. It helps you with your housing search.
