Access to documents and filming

Access to documents requests

A request for access to an OMHM document can be made verbally at 514-868-5232 or in writing, except if the requested documents contain personal information. In that case, the request must be made in writing using the Access to documents request form.

Permission for filming and photography

The Office municipal d’habitation de Montréal (OMHM) is committed to facilitating film, television and photo shoots in or on its properties. Shoot requests must be authorized in writing by the Service des communications de l’OMHM.

Authorization criteria and conditions

Before authorizing a shoot, the OMHM assesses the request based on the following criteria:

  • Respect for the living environment, tenants and OMHM staff: noise, traffic, lighting, and clutter must be limited.
  • Public image and reputation: it is forbidden to present a negative image of living environments and the people living there; no image should clearly identify the OMHM or its properties (logo, address, etc.).
  • Valid proof of insurance must be provided.
  • The shoot contract drawn up by production must specify the dates, addresses, conditions to be respected, and shoot procedures.

Fees to shoot in a space managed by the OMHM

  • Base fee: $500 + taxes per shoot day to use a space managed by the OMHM. This fee applies to any shoot day, regardless of the duration.
  • Additional fees charged outside the OMHM’s normal hours of operation, in addition to the base fee: $75 + tax per hour worked outside of normal hours of operation.
(These fees cover on-site staff for supervision, opening and closing the premises, and electricity costs.)

Follow-up

The OMHM may ask to be informed of the release or broadcast date of the production to prepare for possible reactions from tenants, employees, the media or the general public.
