Thinking Green
"Sustainable development" is:
"Development that meets the needs of existing populations without undermining the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It promotes involvement by all members of society and their participation in the decision-making process."
By adopting a clearly defined sustainable development strategy, the OMHM and its tenants are contributing to economically efficient, socially equitable and ecologically responsible development.
The OMHM's commitment to sustainable development is not only expressed in a Politicy, an Action Plan and its Sustainable Management of Building program, but through its awareness enhancement efforts among and with tenants.
Residents engage in multiple activities, including flower planting, recycling and water and energy saving projects. The following pages will not only discuss issues relating to environmental problems, but provide a wide range of advice and information to encourage everyone to think and act green.
