Nearly $10 Million in Major Renovations to Improve the Quality of Life of Tenants at Habitations Plamondon

Anthony Housefather, Member ofParliament for Mount Royal, along with Pierre Arcand, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources,Minister responsible for the Plan Nord, Minister responsible for the Côte-Nord region, and Memberof the National Assembly for Mont-Royal, today announced the completion of the major renovationsat Habitations Plamondon, in Montréal.

This 76 unit low-rent housing project, built in 1980, required combined investments of nearly $10million.

The financial assistance allowed for several improvements, including to the exterior buildingenvelope and unit ventilation. Decontamination and upgrading operations were conducted,particularly to the garbage chute, boiler room and elevators.

Three partners, namely, the Government of Canada ($4.7 million), through Canada Mortgage andHousing Corporation (CMHC), the Government of Quebec ($3.7 million), through the Sociétéd'habitation du Québec (SHQ), and the Montréal Metropolitan Community (MMC) ($942,000),worked together to ensure that these renovations, coordinated by the Office municipal d'habitationde Montréal, would be carried out.

Energy efficiency 

A grant of more than $232,000 from Transition énergétique Québec, provided through theÉcoPerformance program, also allowed for the implementation of energy efficiency measures thatwill reduce the building's environmental footprint. The integration of a heat recovery system, a heatpump and a solar wall will lower the energy bill of the building as well as reduce greenhouse gasemissions.

Hydro-Québec also granted over $18,000 in financial assistance through its Energy Efficiency RetrofitProgram for Low-Income Households.
