Living with People of Different Cultures
One out of four Montréal residents is an immigration and a constantly growing proportion of tenants from different backgrounds live in its social housing facilities. All the more reason why we must join forces in providing resources. Doing so will help immigrants overcome some of the many hurdles they face, like finding jobs and adjusting to their host culture. It will also help ensure peaceful and cooperative coexistence in an ethnically diverse city.
OMHM community partner organizations have created many initiatives aimed at social integration and cross-cultural bridge building. Such activities take different forms, including personal meetings with families, outings inside and outside the city, community meals, workshops and celebrations, to name just a few.
