Intercultural coexistence

Forging ties within the neighbourhood and promoting cross-cultural integration and understanding

Given that just over one in four Montrealers is an immigrant and the constantly growing proportion of public housing tenants from varied backgrounds, working together and offering resources is of prime importance. Doing so not only helps immigrants overcome some of the many hurdles they face, like finding work and adjusting to their new surroundings, it also helps ensure peaceful coexistence in an ethnically diverse city.

OMHM community partner organizations have created many initiatives aimed at social integration and cross-cultural understanding. They can take different forms, including private meetings with families, outings within or outside the city, community meals, workshops, and celebrations, to name just a few.
